Meet and Greet with our new principal

Algebra/Math – Week of May 17

Algebra: (Tutorials Monday/Tuesday, am and pm and Thursday afternoon)

Monday – Practice Exam. 3 Hours max, graphing calculator is allowed.

Wednesday – Final Exam. 2 Hours max, graphing calculator is allowed. Worth the same as an entire 6-week grading cycle. No retakes.

Math:(Tutorials on Thursday afternoon only for equations exam retake)

We will continue all week with our airplane experiment by analyzing the flaws in the experiment itself, make improvements, gather data and compare old/new results.

This week, students will embark on a poetry term scavenger hunt through music. This project is due on Friday, 5.14. Students may work with a partner on this project.

Extra credit opportunity: Burn a CD of the songs that you used for this project and you will get a free 100! Don’t forget to write the title and artist, and of course your name(s) so you can get the extra credit.

Math – Week of May 10

Monday/Tuesday: We will review Friday’s quiz before taking the unit exam on Equations. Afterward, we will spend some time reviewing some statistics concepts we will use in an experiment which should take the rest of the week.

Wednesday/Thursday/Friday: We will conduct an experiment using paper airplanes to analyze variation in data. Histograms, run charts, percent conforming calculations, and measures of central tenancy will all be used to make conclusions about a set of data.

Students will gather data, plot and discuss their results, make improvements, repeat the experiment, and compare and contrast results.

No HW during this time.

Algebra – Week of May 10

Monday: Quadratics Unit Quiz (Cheat sheet is allowed). This quiz covers everything on polynomials through the quadratic function.

Afterward, we will start our end-of-course review beginning with the equations unit.

Wednesday: Quadratics Unit final (30 questions, multiple choice) followed by end of course review of the linear equations and systems units.

Friday: We continue our review with linear equations, systems and inequalities.

Important Dates:

Monday, May 17 – Practice end of course exam

Wednesday, May 19 – End of course exam (worth the equivalent of 6-week grading cycle)

Extra tutorials are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, both in the morning and after school during exam week.
